Daannisa Natural - Ethiopia (250g/1kg)
Mango | Pineapple | Fruit Salad Bar
Region:, Guji, Shakiso
Variety: JARC 74110 & 74112
This is an incredibly fruity coffee - fruit salad bar is on the label for good reason!
Sweet and dense mango notes kick things off in the aroma, backed up by some punchy pineapple-like acidity. We tried to figure out how best to describe the complex fruit notes alongside the huge amounts of sweetness and we couldn't get past fruit salad bar as the best way to explain it!
This coffee is incredibly interesting in the cup, but also the 2 varieties present are fascinating too.
Variety 74110 (Gibirinna) was selected from an original “mother tree” in the Bishari village, Metu Province, Illuababora zone, Oromia region. After researching its resistance to coffee berry disease and overall yield, JARC (Jimma Agricultural Research Center) released the variety in 1979. 74110 trees are short and compact, with small leaves, cherries, and beans.
Variety 74112 (Serto) also originates in the Metu-Bishari forest and was similarly released in 1979 for its disease resistance and yield potential. Its trees, too, are small and compact. Both varieties grow well in climates similar to those where the original mother trees grew.
