This fully washed AB lot was grown by a group of smallholder farmers who are all members of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) and deliver their coffee to Kaiguri Washing Station. The farmers cultivate the coffee on farms that lie between the southern slopes of the picturesque Mt. Kenya and the foothills of the Aberdare mountain range. Their farms are small averaging about 250 to 350 trees, mostly made up of SL-28. Mutheka FCS is a very new organisation that was created in 2004 after the Giant Tetu Coffee Growers Co-Operative Society split.

The FCS is located in Nyeri County, east of the Aberdare Ranges and west of Mt. Kenya, and manages seven factories with a total membership of approximately 6,000 small-scale coffee growers.Kaiguri Factory has 521 registered members.

After the cherry is delivered to Kaiguri Factory the cherry is pulped and fermented for 18 to 24 hours, before being washed and laid to dry on raised beds. The slow and careful drying takes between 12 and 20 days, depending on conditions.
