In the 1950s, the Hidalgo family began to grow coffee on land located in La Libertad Municpality, Huehuetenango. Don Silvano Hidalgo inherited a part of the farm in the 1970s from his father, named Las Camelias; getting this name as his father grew Camelia flowers in his garden.
