Lillian's Farm Natural - Kenya
Cranberry | Blackberry | Jammy
Country: Kenya
Region: Plateau, Uasin Gishu County
Variety: Batian
Process: Natural
This is our first ever naturally processed coffee from Kenya; a relaxing of government rules in Kenya in 2011 was supposed to bring about a diversification of processing but the overwhelming majority of coffee produced is still washed process.
This lot was sourced by Omwani, through the team at Lot 20 in Kenya.
Lot 20 has a unique relationship with Lillian Salil, a new coffee farmer from Plateau, Uasin Gishu County. Lillian farms a 10-acre plot growing Ruiru 11 and Batian separately. Lot 20 has contracted her to produce single-variety lots, which allows them to taste the distinct varietal characteristics—a rare opportunity in Kenya, where most farmers harvest and process varieties indiscriminately.
Lillian’s farm is highly modernised, featuring drip irrigation and organic manure from her commercial dairy operation. This ensures healthy trees, selective picking, and individual processing of varieties, making this partnership truly special.
This year Lot 20 have purchased Lillian’s entire production for the year, and are hoping to continue their partnership together.
